Consciousness Exploration & Study
IONS is a nonprofit membership organization that conducts and sponsors research into the potentials and powers of consciousness—including perceptions, beliefs, attention, intention, and intuition. They explore phenomena that do not fit the conventional scientific model, while maintaining a commitment to scientific rigor. Through their publications, conferences, and educational media, we inform our members and the public about the latest findings on consciousness and its relationship to the physical world.
Their retreat center hosts workshops, retreats, and educational activities dedicated to nurturing personal transformation, health, and interconnectedness with the environment. They support community building by providing ways for members and colleagues to share their experiences and ideas with one another through local community groups, online discussions, and other networking opportunities.
The Monroe Institute, a nonprofit research, educational, membership-based organization, fosters the greater understanding of focused states of consciousness through practical explorations and coordinated research efforts using an interdisciplinary approach. The Institute’s research efforts align closely with principles originally set forth by the eminent William James – research being the exploration of reality through the crucible of experience.
One method of experiencing focused consciousness (peak states, mystical states, meditative states, healing states, vigilance states, intuitive states, etc.) is using Hemi-Sync, a binaural audio technology. Therefore, much (but not all) of the research of the Institute focuses on Hemi-Sync.
The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a membership-based non-profit research and educational organization. They assist scientists to design, fund, obtain approval for and report on studies into the healing and spiritual potentials of psychedelic drugs.

The Kundalini Research Network is an international group of health care professionals, researchers, scholars and individuals interested in the transformative power of Consciousness, known in the Yogic tradition as Kundalini.
The term Kundalini is used to denote the transformative power of Consciousness, or the Divine, in all of us. Each spiritual tradition has a name for this power: Holy Spirit, Chi, N’um, and the Great Mother, to name a few. Activating this extraordinary power initiates a process of expansion of consciousness marked by progressive spiritual deepening and a long-term process of psycho-spiritual purification. Thus begins the greatest unfolding of our innate capacities for knowing and serving the Divine.
PKYC’s Kundalini Assessment Service provides explanations of Kundalini process to selected applicants who have had a Kundalini rising and are intently dedicated to furthering their spiritual development. The John E. Mack Institute’s purpose is to explore consciousness and the process of transformation; apply the emerging knowledge to pressing psychological, spiritual and cultural issues; and initiate programs that will examine the nature of reality and experience in a safe, healing environment.
We dedicate the John E. Mack Institute in his name to honor his courageous examination of human experience and his landmark explorations of the ways in which perceptions and beliefs about reality shape the human condition.
John E. Mack, M.D., former professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and founder of the Center for Psychology & Social Change (now the John E. Mack Institute), explored how extraordinary experiences can affect personal, societal and global transformation. He was the author of many books detailing how one’s perceptions shape relationships with one another and with the world, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of T.E. Lawrence, A Prince of Our Disorder, and Passport to the Cosmos: Human Transformation and Alien Encounters.
